Go to your computer and turn it on. It doesn’t matter what kind of computer you have, as long as you have Internet service and access to the Internet.
Click on the picture icon for your internet browser, usually located conveniently on your desktop. (If you cannot find it on your desktop, then go to the Start Menu and search for a program by hand.) Programs such as Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Safari access the internet.
If you are searching from a search engine:
Find and type in the web address of the search engine you want to search. Popular ones are Google.com and Yahoo.com.
Type what you want to search for in the handy search bar, usually in the middle of the page, and a search page will come up giving you the names of all websites containing your search terms.
However, if you are searching for words or terms on a webpage:
Press and hold CTRL and F (or find the ‘search’ button). A search bar should appear on your screen.
Then, type in what you want to search for.
Press the search (or ‘go’) button. Only press the search button once; your computer may slow down if you click incessantly. If the web page is really not working, click the ‘refresh’ key (or press ‘enter’ on your keyboard) to reload the page.
Hopefully, you should find what you are looking for…if not, then consult a manual, computer expert or another helping hand that could be of assistance.
